Body Language: What Your Sleeping Position Says About You
(Ok, I’ve seen this picture on Tumblr a few times, but i finally found their explanations)
Fetal:
- Population: approx. 50% of people sleep this way
- Fetal sleepers are looking for comfort and are often constant worriers. While they are very conscientious during their waking hours, these are people who tend to overthink their tasks and daily lives.
Log:
- Population: approx. 30%
- People who sleep this way often find themselves waking up stiffer and in more discomfort than when they went to bed. Their muscles may not be getting the proper rest while they sleep. Or it might mean that you have to find more of your waking hours learning how to relax.
Yearner:
- Population: approx. 25%
- The yearners are people who get up in the morning with an excitement to get out there and chase their dreams. But these are also people who go after their dreams without a real focus. They can be chronic time wasters. Some of the yearners aren’t just chasing their dreams, some feel that they are being chased.
Freefall:
- Population: approx. 17%
- It might mean that you are seeking control of time and space in a way that you don’t feel you have in your waking hours. While only 17 percent of the people studied were considered freefallers, Phipps says these are the sleepers who may be getting the least restful night’s sleep.
Starfish:
- Those who sleep in the starfish sleeping position, on their backs with arms and legs outspread, may be more open, and make better friends than the logs.
Soldier:
- The soldier tends to be quiet and reserved, and sets high standards for himself and others. Both the soldier and the starfish often struggle with getting a good night’s sleep because they tend to snore and have other breathing problems throughout the night.
Left & Right Side Of Bed:
- The study also suggests that those who sleep on the left side of the mattress have a brighter outlook on life, “They tend to be more upbeat and able to handle the stresses of work and life better than those who sleep on the right,” Claire Haigh, a spokesperson for Premier Inns says. According to the study, 31 percent of the respondents who slept on the left side of the mattress love their jobs, compared to just 18 percent of those who sleep on the right side.
Why The Percentages Are Off: They don’t add up to 100% because people constantly change sleeping positions. You can be part of the 50% and part of the 25%.Expert: Robert Phipps (The UKs leading body language expert, author, speaker and trainer)

Lucid dreaming is the awareness of us being in a dream. Sometimes, we lucid dream by chance, but we can train ourselves to do this. This article outlines the positives and negatives of learning lucid dreaming.
Pros:
Adventure and Excitement: In lucid…

1. You said you had depression. On the rainy days I brought an umbrella for you to walk under.
2. You had OCD. I counted all 288 heartbeats with you until we both fell asleep.
3. You had anxiety disorder. I held my breath until you finally took one.
4. When I felt sad and you couldn’t comfort me because you had Asperger’s, I understood what your shaking hands meant anyway.
5. When you were so frustrated and bored because of the ADHD, I held your face in my hands and made you look into my eyes for thirty seconds straight, until you could see how much I loved you.
6. The bipolar disorder picked you up one minute and threw you down the next. For the mania, we celebrated with cake. For the depression, I held you until it passed and you were okay again.
7. You wouldn’t eat anything for breakfast, lunch, or dinner because of the eating disorder. I fed you your favorite kind of chocolate when you were ready, bite by bite, and we went for a run afterward.
8. The door always scared you when it slammed too hard because of the PTSD; I covered the edge with rubber so it wouldn’t bang against the wall so loudly.
9. Your self-destructive tendencies made it hard to breathe sometimes, so I hid every needle, razor, and pair of scissors in the house, then made you pinch me as hard as you could very time you had the urge to hurt yourself.
10. Despite everything, I still loved you more than I’d ever loved anyone else in the entire world.

This is the greatest thing I have ever seen. People do not understand that mental illnesses, such as depression, are actual chemical imbalances in your body. They are not brought on by choice. My dad was diagnosed with depression. He was so ashamed of it that he hid it from me and my brothers. A month later, he killed himself. The stigma that comes with mental illness made my Dad embarrassed to talk to his own kids about this problem because he felt like less of a man.
Erase the stigma. The more we talk about mental illness, the less likely it will end in suicide.
